Chapter 7
Shirley didn’t know what the fuck was going on, but when the kids had disappeared, she had turned in her seat and looked forward. There was only one thing that could have just taken them without showing themselves, and Shirley didn’t want to fuck around with any vampires. They were like walking death. She was more terrified of them than she was meeting her maker when she died.
The knock at her window had her scream out a startled cry. She glared at the man when he asked her to roll down her window. Telling him to fuck off didn’t seem to bother him overly much, because he started laughing. The fucker was going to die if he didn’t stop messing around with her.
“Mrs. Dent, I need for you to exit your car.” She started to tell him to go the fuck away when she realized that he knew her name. Staring at him, she tried to think if she knew him or not. “You don’t know me. I’m with the FBI. I’m asking you nicely to get out of the car and cooperate. Or not. Really, after what I’ve been told, I was kinda hoping that you’d resist arrest, and we’d have to put you down like the dog you are. Get out, or we’ll be forced to take you out.”
“You and what army, you fucker? I have nothing to do with the Feds. I’m waiting on my daughter-in-law. If she remembers that I’m out here with her damned kids.” He said that they had the kids. That scared her again, knowing that if he did, then he knew who the vampire was. “I do know him. In the event that you didn’t realize this by now, I can read your mind. It’s not a place that I would want to stay for very long. You are one sick bitch, aren’t you? Mrs. Dent, either get out of the car, or I’m going to lift it up and shake you out of it. Come to think of it, you just stay right where you are. I think I might well enjoy that.”
The car started to shake and rumble, and she got out, fearful that the fucker would do just what he’d said. Not that she knew how he would do it, but she was sure that he would. As soon as she was out, Shirley found herself slammed up against the hood of the car and her gun taken from her.
“I’m going to read you your rights. Not that I think you should have any, but I have to do it as part of my job.” She asked him where Clare was. “I would think that she’s with her husband and children by now. If not, she will be soon enough. You will never bother them again.”
“You think not? Well, I have news for you. I can make my son do whatever I want. He knows better than to ignore me.” She knew that she’d be able to make him get her out of jail too, even if he had to confess to whatever they were charging her for.
